One of the questions folks often ask: why 'Alchemy'
Well. Starting out I conjured images of myself working with lab glass, retorts, cauldrons and bunsen burners, and alembic stills. A blend of mad witch and scientist. And the more I reflected on my inspiration: heritage recipes, folk wisdom and Ayurvedic relationships - - the more I thought of myself as an alchemist.
Alchemy feels like that intersection of science and magic. Not abracadabra, but mystery, awe and unknowing... and actual fact.
Like the way lye and fat can be heated each to the proper temperature to become soap. Or how gentle touch of the proper bone-dimple in the face can release tension in the sinus.
I am fascinated by human connection, story, wisdom, science and plants.
