a guiding principle
At a particularly stress-out point when my kids were little and I was overwhelmed with all the stuff, I came across this quote that helped me. It is so easy to keep things because purging can be painful. Also, we hang on to things because we want to be responsible -keep things out a landfill. But then, we end up warehousing clutter and the land-fill in our homes.
Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.
Is it useful? Does it work? Is it treasured? Is it beautiful?
Then it has to go.
We owe it to ourselves to edit our belongings. Giving ourselves pretty places to rest our eyes and ridding our spaces from clutter for a better sense of space.
