Can Children Get Henna?
At Alchemy you can bring Mom, Grandma and the kids... Alchemy might not be the best place for toddlers to explore, but school-aged children are welcome to join in the henna appointment.
Our henna is made fresh: henna powder (from the leaf of the henna plant), water and essential oils - we avoid citrus oils (the most likely culprits for sensitivity) - and we can make the paste with just Lavender (considered safest for young skin).
Doing henna with my own little children (now teens) is actually how I fell in love with the process and beauty of henna. You sit still. You talk quietly. And you create memories together.
CAUTION: Not all henna is made equal and there are products on the market that are labeled henna that may have additives you don't want on YOUR skin - and certainly not on a child. If you put 'black henna' in your favorite search engine, you'll find many examples of chemical burns and scars caused by these products. Your henna artist should know exactly what is in her paste and be open with the ingredients - if the package is pre-labeled or from a shop - it's probably not safe.
(Regarding sensitivities: Alchemy is NOT a nut free space and our henna is prepared in a home which uses tree nuts regularly).
