Burning incense has a symbolic meaning that helps focus the attention on the purpose of a ritual and cleanse the air. At times a particular fragrance is chosen for the purpose of specific goals.
Palo Santo has gained popularity. And we LOVE it. But find Sandalwood is a lovely option when seeking physical and emotional healing.
There is a subtle and soothing fragrance to the wood that is an intentional reminder of peace. Sandalwood is thought to attract positivity, and promote a tranquil state of mind.
Our raw incense sticks are etched with incantations and mehndi-inspired designs SHOP
Fragrance Design and detailed graphic design - by hand from start to finish.
Naturalista creatrix, Monique Herzig of Alchemy has designed a line of fresh botanical fragrances.
Botanical Perfumery is rooted in alchemy and ritual: borrowing the natural materials of aromatherapy, while sharing the goals of commercial perfumery - and aesthetically pleasing modern fragrance. Where the big companies rely on labs and advances in chemistry to synthesize ingredients, Indie Natural Perfumers harvest ours from nature.
This particular form of alchemy uses knowledge of plant science and intuition to create nuanced fragrances.
At Alchemy we use only essences harvested from the wood, seed, flower, root, stem and fruit. And select rare extracts, attar, distillates, and absolutes to design fragrances that elicit memories real and imagined.
Our perfumes are always free from synthetics and hand poured in small batches to maintain quality.
Lavish yourself with the botanical fragrance of choice paying special attention to pulse points. Your perfume will become part of your essence and narrative as your own chemistry works with the perfume.

henna for the hobbiest - not quite ready for a big box, but moved past the kit?
Henna Powder (Rajasthan) for Body Art
Lawsonia inermis is a plant native to parts of northern Africa, SE Asia and Indonesia.
This fabulously sifted and high quality henna powder is from Rajasthan. It’s the same henna we use in our henna studio for adorning the body, conditioning and coloring hair.
Our packets are 50g (about 1/2 a cup) and will be plenty for the hobbyist.
We also sell kits and can suggest sources for larger henna quantities.

Join us for an evening of nature and pleasure - bringing the outdoors in - with scent, ritual, hydrotherapy, and self care.
Shinrin-yoku is a term that means "taking in the forest atmosphere" or "forest bathing." It was developed in Japan during the 1980s and has become a cornerstone of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine. The idea is simple: if a person simply visits a natural area and walks in a relaxed way there are calming, rejuvenating and restorative benefits to be achieved.
This is an interactive conversation about the science of creating a wellness by engaging with nature. Applying folk wisdom and science to ‘bring the outdoors’ home through scent and bath salts.
Each student will create a customized jar of bath salts and a fizzy foot soak to take home. Perfect for gifting or enjoying yourself!

Natural Body Art with ALCHEMY
Alchemy Slow Living Studios is now taking appointments for jagua body art.
Indigenous to Central America, jagua is a blue staining-temporary body art. The fruit is edible and the fermented juice can be used to create beautiful body art.
While jagua is temporary and only stains the surface, like henna, the aftercare is very different. Jagua stains EVERYTHING it touches (there's no 'correcting' or erasing like there is with henna).
And you get to scrub it off with soap and water 4 hours after application - - and it's kinda magical the way it works. Immediately after you take off the paste/gel, you might not see anything but a grey shadow - - it gets WAY darker!
Science + Magic with mood, memory, shape, color and texture of smell
An awesome time was had for all! No one more than me. Thank you all for the wonderful workshop at POST - Detroit.
Using classic perfumery techniques and materials borrowed from aromatheraphy, the class created sophisticated personal perfumes with essences of woods, fruits and flowers.
Beginning to 'smell with your imagination' was the first step. And resisting the temptation to 'guess' what a smells is... instead, try to visualize the fragrance in terms of color, texture, memory, mood, and shape.

Far and away our best retail piece, the Florida Water Cologne has a fresh new face and updated bottle for the fall.
Florida Waters have a long and storied history in America
Originally conceived as a competitor to contemporary global sales of the first Cologne. Florida Waters take their name from the Latin for Boutiful Flowers -not the southern state- They are tied to the quest for eternal youth, Queen of Hungary Waters. Advertisements from the 1800s suggest that Florida Waters are a cure all.
Now a staple in your local bodega, the leading brand is used for spiritual cleansing as much as it is for a cologne - it’s also largely synthetic and can’t contain much actual plant material at that price point. The pre-sale price of $30 is good until the release (November 30) and must be completed online. Orders ship ground delivery the week of November 30.
OUR Florida Water is packed full of plant essences and is 100% synthetic free - with bergamot, sweet orange, secret spices and other historically healthful plants, we can’t promise a cure-all, but we do offer fresh air sweet dreams and good juju.
EXTERNAL USE ONLY
Alchemy Florida water is created as a classic cologne with the natural essences of fruits and flowers in a tincture of organic lavender blossoms. To be worn as a fragrance, for spiritual cleansing, linen mist and eau de toilette.
Alchemy Florida Water also is our essence distilled: nostalgic, thoughtful, quality and aesthetic.
