Private Henna Workshops

2/26/2018

Get a small group of friends together and learn
One of the things I am most passionate about is plant-based beauty - and henna is part of that. I love to share techniques, traditions and tricks for doing henna at home and with your friends.

Obviously, I love to do your henna or henna your group. But I also see value in creating those meaningful moments with people in your life. Maybe with your partner. Maybe during a quiet porch party during the summer... grab a fresh cone of hand-mixed paste out of the freezer and enjoy.

I host private workshops for small groups (min. 4 - max. 6) in the studio. These private workshops can be scheduled with me Tuesday - Friday (day or evening) or Saturday day-time.

We cover:
  • Mixing basics - where to purchase fresh henna powder and essential oils for blending - plus why it isn't satisfying to purchase the 'henna' at the health food store (I tried).
  • Safety - what IS henna anyway... and is everything that says 'henna' the real deal?
  • Tools - henna is a folk art, which implies that folks use the tools at hand - how tools vary from region to region.
  • Cones - cone rolling (and where to find guidance while you perfect the skill)
  • Building blocks - shapes, line weight, pressure and pacing
  • Practice time - plus hints on how to create a meditative practice at home
  • Care and Keeping of henna
  • Best practices for getting great stains

A little bit more:
  • BYOB (tea provided)
  • Receive a small henna by me (if you want it)
  • Discount on henna supplies the day of the event (kits and cones and Jamilla henna powder)
  • Follow up email with links to resources

The fee is set at $275* lasts 2 hours and included all of your materials

While the goals are set for the two hour workshop, and I cover all the points above, I do work pretty fluidly and am happy for you to bring specific questions or ask for demonstrations of techniques - Anyone who has attended a workshop can tell you that the environment is casual and a welcome space whatever your level. The small group lends itself to flexibility and personalized instruction.

To reserve a time for your group, or if you have questions please email me at alchemyhenna@gmail.com - I'm pretty responsive (except on Sunday).

Regarding the fee:
  • Alchemy accepts cash, credit card and Venmo
  • You may want to collect the money from your group ahead of time... if six say they are coming, but only 4 show, the full workshop value is still expected.
  • The cost breakdown is $68.75 each for 4 / $45.80 per person for 6
